Step-by-step process
- Visit Udyam registration portal — Go to https://udyamregistration.gov.in. Click 'Register as Udyam'. You will be asked to verify with Aadhaar.
- Enter Aadhaar number for verification — Provide your Aadhaar number. The portal will send an OTP to your Aadhaar-linked mobile. Enter the OTP to verify.
- Provide basic business information — Enter your business name, business type (proprietorship, partnership, company, etc.), PAN, and GST number (if available). GST details will auto-populate.
- Enter business activity and classification — Select your business activity (manufacturing, service, trading, etc.). Choose MSME classification: Micro, Small, or Medium based on investment.
- Declare investment in plant/machinery or equipment — Provide the value of your investment in plant, machinery, or equipment. This determines your MSME category: Micro (≤25 lakh), Small (25-5 cr), Medium (5-10 cr).
- Enter business address details — Provide your business location: street, locality, city, state, PIN code. Ensure this is your principal place of business.
- Provide business contact details — Enter email address and mobile number for the business. These will be used for Udyam certificate issuance and future communications.
- Declare number of workers/employees — Enter the number of employees on your payroll (for statistical purposes). This helps government track MSME employment.
- Confirm information and review details — The portal displays a summary of all details: business name, PAN, GST, activity, classification, address, and contact. Verify accuracy.
- Submit Udyam registration — Click 'Submit' to complete registration. The portal will process and issue your unique Udyam Registration Number (URN) immediately.
- Download Udyam certificate — Your Udyam Certificate will be generated immediately and available for download in PDF format. The certificate contains your URN and business details.
